Tactical Swimmer Course

SHOOT, MOVE and COMMUNICATE

Class Level: Officer of Any Rank

Method of Testing: Written and Skills

Course Description: This course is design for S.W.A.T., Special Weapon/Response Teams and Law Enforcement Officers. Only AEI trained instructors are authorized teach this program.

Objectives include but are limited too;

  • Tactical Team Swimmer Safety and Deployment
  • Equipment Use and Care
  • Mask, Fins, and Snorkel use (No Scuba)
  • Entry, Exists and Deployment
  • Shooting from above the Water Line
  • Drifting and Upstream Swimming
  • Suspect Apprehension and Removal (Land/Water)
  • Hostage/Suspect Surveillance from the water


AEI 1st Class Swimmer Challenge Test:

  • Run 150 yards in full gear
  • Swim 500 yards without stopping with your tac. equip.
  • 2 minute break
  • Swim 50 yards, Dive to a depth of 7 feet, retrieve a 10 lbs object and return above water
  • Swim a minimum of 75 yards underwater, no mask, fins or snorkel
  • 2 minute break
  • Swim 800 yards without stopping with the equivalent weight of your duty belt and with Mask, Fins and Snorkel (No arm use)
  • Tread water for 15 min. (5 Consecutive minutes with hands out of water)
  • 2 minute break
  • Apprehend Suspect while in shallow/deep water (Fighting and Passive)
  • Make a PFD with shirt/trousers


Prerequisites:

  • A Current Medical Exam, no more than 10 months old-we will supply required medical forms
  • AEI Class I Swimmer or Equivalent
  • Current S.W.A.T., Special Weapon/Response Teams, Law Enforcement Officer
  • Non-Current LEO's must submit a Training Requested Letter by a Law Enforcement Agency
  • Special Weapon Qualified/Certified (if using any weapon other than sidearm)
  • Must already know how to Care and Protect your weapon(s) in/around water (you can obtain this information from the Weapons Manufacture)
  • YOU WILL USE YOUR OWN WEAPON
